Automotive Trends That May Change The Way We Move
Thrifty Auto Shipping loves to attend car shows around the
world but we didn’t get a chance to attend this one in L.A. this year but one
of our favorite organizations, NPR did! Here’s a recap of some changing automotive
trends they found this year. Stroll around the show and you'll discover some
innovation and advances that aren't really attractive yet are changing the way
we move around.
One of the biggest changes is that people are leaning more
towards access to transportation more than ownership. The car industry answer
to that changing need is car sharing services that usually include insurance
and maintenance and the cars are not shabby either. Three of the top brands that
are already offering these sharing services are Cadillac, Volvo and Lincoln.
Another change has nothing to do with the car industry but
has to do with more eco-friendly and economical means of transportation. While
most of the car companies are focusing on electric and self-driving cars, many
people are turning in their keys in exchange for electric bikes and scooters
and even skateboards. What a great way to stay healthy and save the
environment!
Most of today’s motorcycles and mopeds still utilize gas or
diesel and have lower fuel economy along with high soot output which adds to
air contamination and greenhouse gasses. The new electric options that are
being offered could help in cutting contamination in big cities around the
world.
These new modes of transportation presently are attracting
the younger crowd, but they could help give versatility or a better mode of
transportation to more older and disabled individuals. The hope is that more individuals
will decide to use alternative ways such as car sharing services or electric
bikes to get around instead of the expensive, gas guzzling, polluting cars on
the road.
