of Suzuki, as they progress with their probe into the carmaker's utilization of
inadequate fuel economy tests. Authorities were searching for records which
would bolster the organization's past cases that it had not intended to dupe auto
purchasers. A month ago Suzuki said it
discovered "inconsistencies" in its fuel emissions testing, however
denied it was cheating. Suzuki claimed
the issue did not make a difference to any of their products sold outside of
Japan.
There were also many other recent scandals throughout the
car industry related to emissions testing. Earlier in the year, Japan's transport
ministry raided the workplaces of Mitsubishi Motors, after the carmaker
admitted to adulterating its fuel economy information. The embarrassment
prompted the president to step down just a year ago Volkswagen admitted to
cheating emissions tests in the US. Authorities found Volkswagen was using
cheating software in its diesel vehicles that could identify when the autos
were being tested and would change outflow levels in like manner to enhance the
outcomes.
